Teens In Action - Model Program Training: Spring 2022

Teens In Action is Back!

Omni Youth Programs is trilled to bring back our favorite program for those working with teens and teens who want to lead their piers!

As always, this training is free to those offering service in Sacramento County.


We train teens and those working with teens to become Certified Providers of Teens In Action. Teens In Action is a group program for teens, facilitated by youth leaders. This program focuses on the changing brain, developing communication skills and educating teens about the risks of alcohol, drug use, and other high-risk behavior.


Teens (under 18) can register with an adult mentor or adults (over 18) who serve teens do not need a teen participant to participate.


Training consists of 2 Six (6) - Hour in Person sessions.

11AM - 5PM: April 12th - 13th

Both (2) Sessions are required to complete certification.


This training will be held in person in a social distanced setting comfortable for all trainees.

We Can Work It Out INC. has graciously offered to host this training at their facility.

How To Earn $200!


REQUIREMENTS for $200

  • Must complete Both (2) training sessions.

  • Must lead at least 10 teen participants to complete the program.

  • Must agree to implement the program in Sacramento County at least once.

  • Submit demographic and participant post-evaluation data to Omni Youth Programs.

FREE TRAINING+ OVER $200 WORTH OF PROGRAM MATERIALS


FORMAT OF TEENS IN ACTION ​

  • Six weekly sessions of 1hour each.

  • Entertaining Videos, lively group discussions, role-playing, and high energy activities.

  • Video vignettes of typical family situations depicted by professional actors.

BENEFITS TO PARTICIPANTS

  • Increase protective factors that prevent reduce alcohol and drug use and violence

  • Increase family, school, and peer bonding

  • Understand negative social and physical effects of substance use

  • Improve general life skills and social resistance skills

  • Greater school attachment and higher levels of self-esteem

CURRICULUM TOPICS

  • Session 1: 5 Key qualities of character, Understanding parents, Your teen brain, The power of choice, School Success, and Challenges of drugs and violence

  • Session 2: The spiral of success, Communication: The road to cooperation

  • Session 3: Responsibility and freedom, The voice of discipline, Understanding and accepting consequences

  • Session 4: Courage and self-esteem, The Think-Feel-Do Cycle, Turn discouragement into encouragement, Getting past power struggles

  • Session 5: 10 risk-prevention strategies for teens, Negative vs. positive influences

  • Session 6: Tobacco, alcohol & other drugs, Bullying and relationship violence, Peer pressure, Confronting high-risk behavior
