CULTURAL ORIENTATION SERIES
This series is an outgrowth and in-depth version of the "Cultural Panel" presentation organized by Omni Youth Programs at the SCCY Prevention Summit 2023.
This workshop is for agencies and individuals seeking to build meaningful relationships with immigrant and refugee cultures in order to provide behavioral health and educational services. In this series attendees will hear from representatives various cultures who are experienced at bridging the gap between agencies and cultural-specific groups to provide culturally sensitive services.
During this session attendees will learn:
1) Ways different culture's view offers of services for youth drug prevention from organizations and individuals outside their culture.
2) Suggestions of how you can best connect and engage with different cultures you are reaching out to for the first time or don't have a standing relationship or personal contact with.
3) Specific adaptations that may be needed to meet their needs and demonstrate cultural responsiveness beyond just translation services.
