Drug & Gang Prevention Small Group Facilitator
with Pre-Teens Position: Facilitator for small groups of 9-13 year olds in an elementary school classroom. Facilitate up to four groups a day on Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday, in 8-week cycles during the school year. Talk with children about the dangers of drugs and gangs, teach methods to resist peer pressure, teach ways to respond to provocation without violence, express feelings productively, communicate with their parents, and provide a meaningful, worthwhile service. Qualification: Experience with youth. No previous facilitation or counseling experience is required, but is extremely useful. The ability to communicate effectively with children, a sincere attitude towards substance abuse prevention, reliability, and a sense of humor is helpful. Training: Thorough, free training is provided. Training focuses on applying our curriculum, counseling skills, group facilitation, child abuse indicators, and drug and gang information. Background Requirements: Fingerprints, tuberculosis (TB) test, Department of Motor Vehicle driving background check and references. Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday for 3-5 hour slots. Times vary, but will be sometime between 9:00 am 2:45 pm, at least one day a week, for one or more 8-week cycles. Cycles: September-November, January-February; February-March, March, June. You may work as many hours as your schedule permits. Back to Top of Page Administrative Assistant Position: Administrative Assistant to executive staff. Wide variety of duties including data entry, writing and/or typing correspondence, coordinating meetings, filing, aide in volunteer recruitment, reproducing materials, and take and make phone calls. Qualifications: Proficient on PC computer, Word, Excel, and Print Shop software, large copier machines, multiple line telephone, and calculator. Must be able to work as part of a team as well as independently, be flexible, have a good sense of humor, take initiative, enjoy variety, friendly, and have good communication skills. Training: We will train you on all office procedures. Hours: Varies depending on your availability. Can be on a regular schedule or as needed basis. Back to Top of Page Event Organizer Position: Help plan fundraising and community events for agency. Make phone calls, seek donors, solicit donations for raffle, manage mailing lists, register vendors, distribute press releases, announcements and flyers in-person, by mail and email. Qualifications: Must be very organized, good with details. Excellent communication skills, friendly, outgoing and good with follow up. Experience dealing with the public, organizing paperwork and schedules, group emailing, soliciting involvement and donations by phone helpful. Training: We will provide training. Hours: Very flexible. Can work from home. May require occasional in office meetings and outreach in community. Data Entry, Research & Evaluation Assistant
Position: Provide support in the collection, collating, data entry and analysis of evaluation data on the P.A.S.A. Elementary School Drug & Gang Prevention Program. Qualifications: Computer skills and data entry experience. Organized, precise, good with details, interested in working with and analyzing data, and good at organizing paperwork. Able to work with minimal direction and create evaluation summaries based on examples provided. Some college, preferably in a research-based field, and direct experience in data collection and analysis. Hours: Hours vary and determined based on your availability. Back to Top of Page Graphic Designer Position: Design graphics for agency promotional materials including website. Qualifications: Some professional training in graphic design, flexible, reliable, completes works, and creative. Hours: Varies, based on your availability and agency projects at time. Can work from home. Back to Top of Page Website Maintenance Position: Assist in updating and maintaining agency website. Qualification: Be able to show proficiency in designing websites through website portfolio. Migrating to WordPress in 2012. Should know how to build a website in WP and manage content through Dashboard. Professional training preferred. Hours: Varies, based on your availability. Monthly updates at a minimum. Back to Top of Page Grant Writer Position: Help Executive Director in searching and completing mini-grants on-line and on paper. Qualifications: Writing and editing skills, computer search skills, detail oriented, comfortable having work edited, good with follow up, can work independently. Grant writing experience extremely helpful. Training: Some experience preferred, but will provide examples of previous grants as model. Hours: Flexible. Can work from home plus office meetings. Back to Top of Page Board of Directors Member or Advisor Position: Participate in oversight of agency including periodic review and revision of agency policies and procedures, financial and program oversight, and liability and legal issues. Additionally, board members are expected to help promote Omni Youth Programs in the community, raise money by identifying and opening doors to prospective business and private donors, personally solicit others to attend agency events, and personal giving. Additionally, board members are expected to recruit new board members, attend bimonthly meetings and participate on one sub-committee in addition to the general Board of Directors. Qualifications: Sincere interest in drug and violence prevention and supporting agency's mission, programs and fundraising efforts, focus on problem solving, team player, cooperative, enthusiastic, and good at "spreading the word". Hours: General BOD's meetings are held every two months, 5:30-7:00 pm, Thursday evenings (time and day of week may vary). Must be available by phone or email between meetings for timely issues and occasional special meetings. Sub-Committee meetings TBA and scheduled on an as needed basis. Back to Top of Page |
